The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is a total game-changer. Without it, I wouldn’t even consider buying the iPad Pro on its own. The keyboard is what makes the iPad Pro such a great package and turns it into the versatile powerhouse that I love using.
What It Offers and How It FeelsL
The build quality is excellent. Everything feels premium, solid, and well-made. The way the iPad attaches is seamless. All you do is raise the iPad towards the keyboard case, and the strong magnets snap it securely into place. It feels safe and firm, and you never feel like the iPad could fall out.
The design is also unique. Once attached, the floating cantilever setup makes the iPad hover above the keyboard in a way that I haven’t seen on another device. It gives you flexibility to adjust the angle and makes it so much more comfortable to use. I keep the iPad attached about 90% of the time. Even when I’m just watching a show or a video, having it propped up feels natural and far more convenient.
Typing on it is excellent. With the larger 13-inch iPad Pro, the keyboard is a great size for long typing sessions, whether it’s emails, documents, or just general use. The trackpad is smooth and responsive. Apple has clearly worked hard on making it work perfectly with iPadOS. Swiping, scrolling, and moving around feels natural and intuitive.
What to Think About Before Deciding:
There are a few things to keep in mind. This setup isn’t very good for lap use. Because of the way the floating design works, it feels awkward to balance on your lap compared to a traditional laptop. The weight is another factor. The keyboard itself is heavier than the iPad, and when combined the setup ends up heavier than a MacBook Air. For me, that makes it less practical to carry around for travel or long days out, and I usually just grab my MacBook Air instead.
Why It’s Worth It If It Fits Your Needs:
When the form factor does fit, the Magic Keyboard makes the iPad Pro so much more capable. It brings the iPad closer to a laptop experience without losing the flexibility of a tablet. For someone like me who prefers a physical keyboard and often needs to type or work, it changes everything.
Yes, it’s expensive, but you’re getting a premium, well-designed, and highly functional accessory that’s been perfected for the iPad Pro. If you want your iPad to be a productivity device as well as an entertainment device, this is the accessory that makes it possible.
